Analysis of the oil leakage of the air compressor caused by the installation of spin-on oil separator base

Spin-on oil and gas separator, referred to as rotary oil separator, also known as external oil separator, fixed through the installation of threads on the oil separator base of the air compressor to use. When the air compressor oil running phenomenon, in addition to the quality of the oil separator itself, there are other factors will also lead to oil running. Because the structure of spin-on oil separator and oil separator base is relatively complex, there are several factors that lead to oil running problem of air compressor.



One. There is an anomaly in the sealing area between the O ring and the oil separator pipe.


      The upper surface of the duct of the oil separator has damaged trace, which corresponds to the O-ring of the oil separator. This will cause poor sealing. The principle is: before separation, the mixture of oil and gas is blown directly from the improper seal to the inside, resulting in two undesirable phenomena: one is that the liquid oil droplets will be blown away and separated and accumulated; the other is that the mixture of oil and gas enters the oil separator core directly without separating through filter paper, which will cause the problem of oil running.

Two. Installation is not professional.


        When the user replaces the new oil separator, first remove the oil separator pipe from the old separator, then insert the oil separator pipe into the new oil separator and tighten it, finally install the oil branch pipe and the oil branch pipe together on the oil section base. This operation is wrong. Correct installation of oil spinning process: must first fix the oil separator pipe on the oil separator base tightened, and then install oil separator.


       Why is this installation process important? The main point is: if the pipe is screwed on the oil separator, then the separator and the pipe are installed on the machine together. There are two problems.

        1. Because the thread of the bottom part of the oil separator pipe is not tightened in place, the lower part can not be sealed, and the surrounding oil-gas mixture will leak through the leakage of the thread under the pipe. The oil-gas mixture leaking through the string goes directly down (actually in two directions, the other way to the second detail), and the lower part is the central hole of the conduit (the central hole is the inlet of clean compressed air after oil separation), thus causing a portion of the oil-gas mixture to be directly connected with the fraction without oil separation. Drain away from the compressed air.

         2. Because the thread of the bottom part of the oil separator duct is not tightened in place, the O-ring under the duct is not compacted, resulting in poor sealing. Because the direction of compressed air outflow is downward conveying from the center of the conduit, the oil-gas mixture in series will go up through the interlayer channel of oil return, and the oil-gas mixture in series will impact the oil droplets formed by the accumulation, which will inevitably blow the separated and accumulated liquid oil into the oil-gas state, and the dispersed oil-gas will enter the oil separator. The inner cavity is discharged from the center of the oil distributor tube, resulting in oil running.


Three. The oil separation conduit is blocked by the oil return channel.


After a small domestic air compressor continuously replaced three different brands of spin-on oil separators, the problem of running oil still exists. Check that the return pipe of the machine is smooth, and the oil return check valve and the minimum pressure valve are replaced. The operating pressure and temperature of the machine are normal. Touch the return pipe by hand and find that the return pipe is not hot. Remove the external return tubing connector, remove the oil separator core, and blow it in with a gas pipe from the side of the base. It is found that the interlayer of the oil separator pipe does not vent at all. Remove the oil separator pipe and find that there are a lot of oil binder in the oil return interlayer and the base plugging the oil return hole, then use the tool to clean the binder, and then re-load the oil separator.


Four. The quality problem of the base structure.

       An imported brand air compressor often oil run-off problem, changed several oil separators, maintenance and replacement of a lot of oil run-off caused by accessories, always unable to solve the problem of oil run-off. It was found that there was an irregular hole in the castings of the base. The air was blown into the hole by the air pipe. It was found that the hole was connected with the lower part of the oil branch pipe after separation. This would cause the oil-gas mixture to enter the hole directly and mix with the separated compressed air through the minimum pressure valve. After replacing a new base, the oil running problem is solved.
